Mandala drawing 37 Coloured v1 by Mandala-Jim Mandala drawing 37 Coloured v1 by Mandala-Jim
Full screen please!

I've been away for a while.. but I'm back now fulfilling a promise :)

Finally! I've taken the time to colour one of my mandalas without using a lazy gradient :) I have to say I quite enjoyed doing it too.. So much so that I think I'll start making my way through my gallery and colouring some more. This was coloured in CS5.

Here's a link to the original b&w Mandala 37 drawing [link]

Do you like it?

Which one should I do next?? :)

Thank you very much. Colouring does take practice like the drawings. Eventually you'll create something that you you're happy with :) I had help with Mandala 42. My partner and my step daughter both helped with the colouring and colouring choices. I'm still learning. It makes me feel happy knowing that I have inspired you :)

You should colour more of your mandalas, this is beautiful! I love the mandala itself, but also the colour sceme, it all fits together perfectly!
And I like this much more than the ones you coloured using gradients ;P

It reminds me of a heap of buttons, lol! ^_^

Lol. People interpret my work in so many varied ways. I find it all very interesting. As for the colouring, I am just getting into that. I really enjoyed colouring mandala 42 (although it took hours and hours!) And you are right about the gradients. Colouring each segment is much more rewarding :)

Yea, I love 42! It's so beautifully coloured, it really brings the mandala to life!
And indeed, much more rewarding, and much better looking. Tough it takes more time, but that doesn't matter, does it? :) (if you spend hours and hours on making a beautiful mandala, you got to finish it good too I think ;) What do one or two more hours matter then...)
You should colour more mandalas like this!! It looks great!

Thank you very much. The rainbow colours actually were so well received that I have started colouring another one already using the same palette. Watch this space :D

Ahh, great!! :) I'm certainly going to check it out once you have finished it!
I personally like pencil colouring better, but I also like the freedom the computer gives you. No limitations in the amount of colours, hues, gradations... while a good, big, pencil set quickly costs a lot!
And also does my scanner totally ruin the pencil colouring, so...

You should also try a "twilight" palette. (transition from black/blue to purple, orange, yellow... etc.) That can look amazing when done well, which I'm sure you will.
